About Me

The Government Women’s Polytechnic campus is located in Jamshedpur on TATA-Kandra Road, Greenery all around midst of nature with easy access. Jamshedpur-the city of Steel is well connected to the majority of major cities via air, rail and road. The Institute is affiliated  by ‘AICTE’ &  SBTE, Jharkhand and  is spread over “9.8” acre in green area. The infrastructure of the institute is one of the best having modern lecture-halls, well-equipped spacious Lab, drawing-halls, tutorial-rooms, urge friendly modern Library, Canteen and much more.

Placement Cell

Placement Cell is an integral part of our institute [GWP Jamshedpur]. The GWP Jamshedpur has provided complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell. Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for the campus selection programmes. The placement cell keeps on inviting various industries and reputed firms for campus recruitment.


The main objectives of the Institute are:To provide professional education and training to all, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, province, faith, sex, political affiliation and financial status.To develop knowledge and skills of the students through teaching, training and research in the field of Information Technology.To enhance and refine skills of executives through training and solve the problems of public & business organizations through consultancy.To develop close relationship with business organizations for providing practical exposure to the students through summer training, on job training, seminars, workshops & special lecturers.To conduct and encourage research in all areas of Management discipline and Computer Science.


Major focus of the Institute has been on imparting knowledge and developing skills related to Electrical Diploma, Electronics Engineering , Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology. Case method of teaching is used to supplement the lectures delivered by the faculty in Information Technology courses and hands on practice is provided to the students of Computer Application courses. The students are exposed to industry through Industrial Visits, Summer Training and Project Work.


Heavy emphasis is laid on fundamental and applied research in different functional areas of Electrical Diploma, Electronics Engineering and Computer Science. The Institute has been undertaking major as well as minor research projects sponsored by various funding bodies at state as well as national levels.


The Institute publishes conference souvenir containing abstracts and edited book containing research papers selected from the papers presented during annual national conferences. The Institute is also coming up with a biannual Newsletter to keep all concerned abreast with developments in the Institute. The Institute also brings out Annual Magazine for providing an opportunity to students for expressing their creative potentials.

The Library

The college has a central library besides departmental library facilities available in all departments. The central library has a purposeful collection of books with a modern seating arrangement. There are more than 10,000 books representing a wide spectrum of subject with a sizeable collection on computer and IT as well as Humanities, Philosophy and Management. National and International Journals, Magazines and newspaper Numbering more than 20 are subscribed by the library. The Management is committed to enhance the library facility to international standards.

Social Activities
The Institute regularly organizes various cultural and social activities. Functions like "Independence Day" and "Republic Day" are celebrated by students, faculty and staff members with patriotic zeal. Events like Teacher's Day & Vanmahotasva are celebrated by the students in collaboration with faculty and staff members to fulfill responsibility towards the society Sports Competitions, Quizzes, Management Games etc. are some of the regular co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the Institute.

Govt. Women's Politechnic Jamshedpur believes in all round development of its students. The Institute believes in bringing out the latent potential of students by providing them the right kind of environment and opportunities. Students of the Institute regularly organize seminars, group discussions, quizzes, cultural programs etc. which provide a platform to them to demonstrate and hone their skills.

Alumni Meet

The Institute has the tradition to stay in touch with the passed out students. Alumni association has been formed and an annual meet of passed out students takes place every yearin order to facilitate constant interaction with their alma mater.

Mumbai University postpones exams for 8,000 distance education students due to technical reasons

MUMBAI: Mumbai University was forced to postpone TYBA and TYB Com exams scheduled on Tuesday for almost 8,000 distance education students after they reported technical glitches. Most students from the university's Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) could not access the question papers on the link provided to them. A fresh date will be announced soon.


Delhi University admission 2020: 1st cutoff list on Oct 12, classes to begin from Nov 18

The undergraduate admissions at Delhi University will begin with the release of the first cutoff list on October 12. In a notification on the admission dates for merit- and entrance-based admissions, DU has also announced that the next academic session will begin on November 18.


AMU students demand review of cases filed for Dec 15 campus violence

ALIGARH: Aligarh Muslim University students have demanded a reinvestigation into the December 15 campus violence during an anti-CAA protest and a review of the cases filed against some of them in a week after that, saying they were booked on "flippant grounds".


TN govt allows class 10-12 students to come to schools from Oct 1 on voluntary basis

Tamil Nadu are permitted to come to their schools on a voluntary basis by following the Standard Operating Procedure to prevent spread of coronavirus, the state government said on Thursday.
